View Abstract   Hide Abstract   |   PDF Version
Abstract: Thermal energy storage systems have a great deal of attention in air conditioning building applications, they contribute to minimize energy consumption and improve thermal comfort of occupants. Latent heat energy storage via phase change materials is the most favorable form. This paper deals with prediction of energy storage composite thermal behavior. The composite is an expanded perlite loaded with a paraffin wax as Phase Change Material (PCM) and surrounded by aluminum sheets. Melting phase change heat transfer in composite structure is numerically studied through a 3D configuration exposed to a regular heat flux. The simulation of unsteady laminar model was performed by Ansys Fluent software for six cycles of charging and discharging. The enthalpy porosity technique was adopted. Studied parameters are the temperature evolution, the heat flux density and the PCM active liquid fraction. As results, the temperature variation was reduced by 3.25°K and shifted around 2 hours by using paraffin. The PCM active liquid fraction evolution showed that the paraffin was partly used and the convective heat transfer was slow. In order to enhance the heat transfer rate, aluminum particles are added in different fractions. A reduction in melting and solidification time was noticed when the aluminum percentage increases.

Abstract: In this paper, a novel accurate methodology is proposed to detect compliance of soft tissue using two serpentine springs as a combined structure in micro machined piezo resistive tactile sensor, where it is applicable to detect small vibrations and variations in live tissue also. The measuring range of the sensor is chosen to be associated with the soft-tissue properties. A force of 10-80 milli-newton is applied on the soft tissue and the variations in the tissue are observed, and compared with the existing methods. From the observations we found that the sensor output stress sensitivity varies linearly with the variation in applied force. The sensor parameters are optimized to give high sensitivity and linearity of the sensor output. To detect the healthy tissue more force needed to be applied on the proof-mass, which varies the stress applied on the tissue. If it is damaged, a light stress is to be applied. The design is simulated using COMSOL TOOL for checking the sensor performance and compared which micro machined tactile sensor design which is simulated using the ANSYS tool.

Abstract: The article analyzes the rapid and contradictory development of modern art, causing a lot of scientific debates and researches. Attention is focused on a variety of genres and genre structures, styles and searches for them that resulted in the specifics of the artistic situation today. Arts and theater, as we know, are one of the most powerful means of enculturation, spirituality, effectively influencing the education of a new generation of enlightened people. They are also considered as one of the most democratic and accessible art forms, helping a person to reveal their spiritual and creative potential. The author argues that the synthesized nature of painting and ballet theatre operate in complex, as both literary work and stage play, stage settings (theatricals, stage properties) and music used in the show have a cumulative impact on the spectator. Ballet Theatre, with all its inherent entertainment is, above all, the art of action, hence even the protagonists are called "characters in the play". Visual accompaniment of such an action is provided by pictorial art through the theatricals. How do they interact, what do they aspire to, how do actors, choreographers and artists achieve set tasks? These are the answers that the author is looking for in this publication. Doing so by citing authoritative sources, using a special methodology of research, studying the opinion of the famous art experts, historians, and philosophers of art and culture, thus developing an active professional position in the aspect of genre art system in the beginning of the third millennium. Article’s subject is relevant, it contributes to the development of cognition interest in young national researchers. Its importance today is undeniable in the world-class art experts’ community. In this regard this research’s results contribution to the world science of art is obvious. It once again helps to make sure that art and ballet theatre present a symbiosis of many arts interacting with each other. The position of the article’s author comes to ideas that ballet theater art features – mass, visual appeal, synthetical character – involve a number of plenty opportunities, both in the aesthetic appreciaton, and in the organization of a person’s leisure. Therefore, theater troupe rehearsals are combined with dance classes, music, fine arts and applied crafts.

INDIAN COLD START DOCTRINE: IMPLICATIONS FOR PAKISTAN

Volume 73, Aug 2017
doi: 10.21506/j.ponte.2017.8.38

View Abstract   Hide Abstract   |   PDF Version
Abstract: India, in an effort to exploit its military strength, proposed a new doctrine for employing its armed forces in any future war with Pakistan, which was named as Cold Start Doctrine. The concept envisions a deliberate buildup and seeks to initiate war in quick timeframe capturing vital objectives in selected areas thus putting India at a better bargaining position at the end of war. The doctrine envisages quick mobilization of armed forces, limited offensives by the potent reserves of holding formations against soft targets and capturing of maximum possible territory along the border before Pakistan is able to retaliate in military as well political dimensions. However, implementation of the doctrine necessitates major modifications in the locations, configuration and war fighting mechanism of Indian holdings and strike formations, Navy and Air Force. Doctrine has severe implications for Pakistan in general and its armed forces in particular. In that context there is a need to carry out an in depth analysis of Cold Start Doctrine (CSD), highlight its practicability for India and the consequent impacts over Pakistan and recommend suitable measures to be incorporated in the strategic and tactical fields to match the threats emerging from the new concept. The paper concludes that the CSD remains vague about defining Pakistans nuclear threshold, a factor which will always come into play while making any kind of offense against it. Detailed analysis proves that doctrine is still a concept and is lacking behind in a number of aspects for implementation. Till now the countermeasures of Pakistan are very effective but there is a need for continued monitoring of development in this field by Indian strategists.
