Abstract: English-medium-instruction (EMI hereafter) Universities pose several challenges to English Language Learners (ELLs hereafter) and language teaching and learning enterprise in the Middle-East. Learning language through poetry is one of them. Poetry can play a significant role in language learning in general and English poems can be used in the language classrooms for effective language learning for ELLs in the Middle East. The review of literature in the field of poetry teaching shows that a comprehensive practical approach to teaching poetry for facilitating language learning is missing and previous scholarship on the subject matter fails to chart out the right course of action in a language classroom for EMI universities in the Middle-East. This paper seeks to explore how contextualizing poetry teaching with a linguistically oriented model, with certain well-defined steps, offers an extensive variety of language learning opportunities to ELLs in the EMI universities in the Middle East.

Abstract: In this work, we specify some special Smarandache curves with reference to the Lorentzian Darboux frame of a curve $gamma$ on a spacelike surface in Minkowski 3-space R^3_1. We obtain the natural curvature functions of the special Smarandache curves and also give some properties to these curves when the curve $gamma$ is an asymptotic curve, a geodesic curve or principal curve. Finally, we shall give an example to illustrate these curves.

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to understand the effect of oral health attitude and depression in adolescent asthma and also identify the risk factors that affect asthma. A total sample of 382 adolescents (aged 12-14) answered the questionnaire and all collected survey data were processed using SPSS ver 20.0 for data analyses such as descriptive statistics, Chi-square test, t-test, fishers exact test, and logistic regression analysis. The prevalence rate of asthma in female students was lower than male (OR=0.27) students, and the recognition of bad oral health status (OR=6.03) was higher than rate in good subjective oral health. Also, students who were aware of deficient general health condition (OR=4.49) had higher prevalence rate of asthma than other students. In the detailed survey about the oral health attitude, the number of adolescents with asthma who had good oral health attitude in caries and periodontal disease was significantly higher than that of healthy adolescents. The depression of adolescents with asthma was significantly higher than that of normal youth. The factors which affect the adolescents asthma included oral health attitude (fluoride on the teeth, dental floss), depression, and general characteristic (gender, subjective oral health, subjective general health). These results indicate that adolescents asthma was affected by oral health attitude and depression. According to the findings, it is necessary to develop and apply the oral health promotion program that includes the education of oral health attitude considering psychological factors especially for adolescents.

Abstract: A comparative study on the identification of process failure superplasticizer modified and unmodified dispersion-crystallite cement stone structure as a matrix phase structural concrete from the viewpoint of structural mechanics of materials fracture using prototypes of type 1 and the method of acoustic emission in the age range of time from 28 days to 18 years. With the help of acoustic emission equipment to determine the parameters of acoustic emission compared series of prototypes in the band frequency range of 50-150 kHz. Record the number of pulses of ultrasonic signals N1 and N2 with the amplitudes, respectively, A1=0.050.50 V and A2>0.50 V, and the ratio of ultrasonic pulses N1/N2 with small and large amplitudes. According to the analysis of the experimental data presented a graph of the recorded acoustic emission parameters and the nature of the changes generated by ultrasonic acoustic emission pulses on the charts loading cement stone samples comparable series at the age of 28 and 420 days and 18 years. It is shown that the nature of changes in the emission of ultrasonic signals and parameters of acoustic emission signals prototypes can be judged not only on the impact of the material structure in the process of destruction, but also to predict the state of the fracture toughness of dispersion-crystallite structure of cement stone. The experimental dependence of the effect of age and superplasticizer modified and unmodified cement stone structure on the nature of the change and the numerical values of the acoustic parameters that characterize the process of destruction of structures of cement paste compared series of samples. The research results can be the basis of formulation and technological optimization of the cement stone structure with high toughness.

Abstract: The paper shows that due to the measures taken in order to create favorable conditions for investing, improvement of legal, organizational and economic development mechanisms of investment activity in Russia, there was an increase of capital flow into the agricultural sector of economy both from budgetary and borrowing sources of financing. It resulted in some economic development of commodity producers but did not course a technological breakthrough, which can be expected due to the intensification of investment flow into the agricultural production. Under ambient limits, mechanisms and tools being used have depleted all possible ways to attract resources. It was proved that the methodology of financial management assessment of the added value in agricultural business widely used in the western countries can become the major tool in mobilization of additional sources of fixed and working capital. The model of functional dependence between yield spread and invested capital was constructed. By the example of Penza Region some necessary calculations, which show that there is an incentive to invest into entrepreneurship in villages and potential of growth of investing effectiveness in agribusiness, were made.

Abstract: Is given a method of multicriteria evaluation of building materials (a complex system) based on parametric identification. By invariants of the matrix (natural frequencies, dimensionless damping coefficients, trace of a matrix, determinant) of system of differential equations (describing the kinetic processes of formation of physical and mechanical characteristics) is developed the functional of material quality. Areas of equal quality of material are determined by the functional. Classification of systems by roots of a characteristic polynom is made. The offered approach can be used also for objectification of assessment by the operator of quality of an object of ergatic system in the course of normal operation.

Abstract: Intertextual relations in D.Amantays novel Flowers and books (2003) which is the first postmodern novel in Kazakh literature are being studied for the first time in this article. In the introduction, we have reviewed importance of the research, works of investigators of D.Amantays novel Flowers and books. In the main part, we have identified the authors reasons to have written the novel, whose experience he relied on when writing the novel which was based on the theory of intertextuality, and the writers of the world literature who had an impact on him. Sources of references in the novel Flowers and books, methods of presenting references in the text and their meaning formation role in the text have been defined, and analyses have been conducted on their function and interpretation in the text. As a result: 1. It has been concluded that the writer realized the need for new experiments in literature that was developing in a new level in a post-colonial state, consciously abandoning social realism offered by the Soviet Union. 2. It has been identified that his writing in postmodernism was prompted by crises in the country as well as in literature. 3. References in the novel Flowers and books have been defined and systematized conditionally as follows: 1) intertext taken from literary texts and theoretical works 2) intertext made to works dedicated to investigating myths and Turkic history 3) intertext made to religious texts and works dedicated to investigating them. 4. Having considered intertextual relations between the novel Flowers and books and works of the post-structuralism writer R.Barthes, it was proved that D.Amantay based his novel on theories of authors death and Intertextuality. 5. By studying intertextual relations between D.Amantays novel Flowers and books and U.Ecos novel The Name of the Rose, essay Postscript to The Name of the Rose, J.L. Borges narrative Library of Babel, it has been identified that he relied on their experiences while creating intertext-based novel; 6. References made to myths, different examples of oral literature related to Turkic studies (myths about Turkic nations origin rooting from wolf, legends about Asan Qaigy who was positioned in Kazakh literature as Eden seeker) in the novel have been defined, and their functions and interpretation have been studied. 7. Identifying references made to religious texts (Bible, Quran, Torah, Zabur, Avesta, Collision of worlds of I.Velikovsky, Essential sacred writings from around the world of M.Eliade, religious encyclopeadias), there has been made research of their functions and interpretation in the text.

View Abstract   Hide Abstract   |   PDF Version
Abstract: In earlier days, the network intrusion detection techniques were mainly based on signatures, which describe the intrusive behaviour of the network and hence have become a standard for Intrusion Detection. To develop more efficient and productive approaches, several other alternate techniques have been proposed for improvising the process of Intrusion Detection. The most significant of these approaches include Statistical, Machine Learning and Data Mining methods which are aimed at providing better functionalities than those of signature-based approaches. Even though the alternative techniques were effective in providing better functionalities, majority of these techniques were left unused in real-time applications of Network Intrusion Detection. Despite of all these efforts the Signature-based Intrusion Detection approaches still remain the most dominantly used techniques for Network Intrusion Detection.

Abstract: It is impossible to imagine our technology-based society without engineering. Engineers create the complex objects and systems we use every day. Engineers must be able to view things in new and imaginative ways, and to generate or recognize new ideas. To solve engineering problems today, engineers should use established science and methods as well as innovative, creative approaches. To solve technical problems, engineering graduates must clearly understand the problem and its potential impacts. They must have the ability to think “outside the box” and to solve problems in creative ways. This paper discusses the importance of teaching and encouraging creativity in engineering education as well as methods of developing programs to accomplish this.

While secondary data obtained from agencies related turtle conservation. Measured data are physical environmental parameters (temperature, salinity,) and chemical environmental parameters (pH, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), Nitrate (NO2), Nitrite (NO3), Phosphate (PO4), Ammonia (NH3), and Total Organic Matter (TOM). The research data indicated that the aquatic qualities in Turtle conservation area are less worthy for Turtle conservation.

Abstract: In order for the organizations to be successful, necessarily should base their development in the process of permanent plan, high fully reflexive and consistent, otherwise their actions would not be finished, and will not provide an orientation guide in order to insure the accomplishment of their functions and the consolidation of them. The Universities are not an exception of this reality, on the other side, should be institutions that show the example of a strategic thinking. Considering the previously mentioned reality, this document has as a main objective; analyze the essential variables of the Strategic Institutional Plan of the UANL through a structural analyzes of collective reflection of their prime Institutional Plans. For their evaluation it is employed the qualitative method of prospective analysis trough the matrix system of cross impact-multiplication applied in a classification MIC MAC. Centrally located in the main results spotlight the importance of articulate the projects and activities of the diverse academic and administrative units of the University, with the coherent development in social promotion, equality and sustainable projects, that resorts the transversal universities functions, that will provide an integral formation of social responsible citizens and highly competent in the business world.

Abstract: As it is well known in numerical analysis, most of the numerical schemes have undesirable oscillations, especially near the domain's border, or near the physical phenomena (empty region, collapse, boundary layer, among others)(mathematically invisible) eg: the heat equation with a bad sign, Burgers equation(the solution loses its regularity).\\ In the case where the differential problem solution presents a singularity (shock, blow-up which cannot be numerically detected easily), the classical scheme cannot generally operate correctly and in the best case we are confronted with a very difficult algorithm, especially in several dimensions. \\ Our objective here is to construct a less complicated scheme compared to the classical methods by keeping their advantages and obtained the admissible solution in the most difficult situations without complications obtained from the selected meshing.\\ In this paper, we present a new method called ziti's $\delta$- scheme which is able to resist to such oscillation near the singularity and enables us to detect a lot of physical phenomena. In particular, with our method, we construct a multidimensional numerical integration and compare its results with other methods. \\ We depict the ziti's $\delta$- scheme for the multidimensional partial differential equations and systems on any meshing with simple numbering. We apply our method to some models and compare its results with the exact one and other classical numerical methods.\\ We can conclude that our results are very striking. The ziti's $\delta$- method that we obtained is faster and more efficient and robust.\\

Abstract: Background: Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are identified as an essential component that provide valuable contribution to the overall economy, specifically in emerging countries like Malaysia. Purpose: The study aims at examining WCM practices of SMEs, as well as to test the relationship between WCM and financial capabilities of SMEs. Methodology: the study focuses on 100 valid samples of SMEs, covering the period of 2009-2014; multiple regressions was employed in order to test the hypotheses. Results: Results indicated that low cash conversion cycle (CCC) increases the financial capabilities of SME. The correlations results for Z-Score indicated a negative significant coefficient with CCC (-0.205) and TDTA (-0.486) both at 1% significant level. Working capital components could statistically significantly predict SME’s financial capability as represent by the Z-Score, F= 116.390, p< .01. Conclusion: A moderate relationship between working capital management and financial capabilities of selected SME firms in Malaysia is a great concern. The scope can be further extended by conducting research that could include management components such as marketable securities, cash flow and others.
